Frequently Asked Questions

What is your typical group of people like?
We have a huge range of customers on our trips, of all ages, sizes, abilities, nationalities and just about everything else. We get a mixture of solo travellers, couples, friends and small groups within any trip, there really is no typical group. If you are interested in a particular trek but want to make sure you won’t be the only male/female/solo traveller do just ask us, we will do our best to make sure you are in the right group for you.
Do you provide accommodation for the holidays or courses?
This depends on which holiday you are booking on to. We don't provide accommodation for the one day courses (however we are happy to help you find some). The two day courses can come with or without accommodation (it is your choice). The long distance trails come with either B&B accommodation, hotel accommodation or with camping fees paid (again you can choose).

Can I bring my dog?
Maybe. Most of our trips are fine for dogs to walk on and all our instructors love dogs and are happy for them to come along. However, if we have someone else in the group who doesn't like dog or is allergic them we may have to decline. If you are interested in your dog joining your trip email us with the trip details and we will let you know if it is possible. Do be aware we cannot accept dogs on to The Cape Wrath Trail due to the demanding nature of this walk.

Are children allowed on your walks?
Yes we are happy to have children on the walks as long as you feel they would be suited to the walk. However, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I pay with my credit/debit card?
Yes, that is no problem at all. We do not charge a fee and all card payments are processed securely through PayPal. We recommend you pay with your card if you are from overseas as this is often the easiest way for you.

Do you guides speak French/German/Spanish etc?
No, most of our guides only speak English. However, we have had overseas customers with only very basic English in our groups before and the guides have always been able to find a way to communicate the essential information to them.

Are your instructors safe/qualified?
YES! All our walking guides have a valid first aid certificate, years of experience in working in the mountain environment and all hold their Mountain Leader (ML) award. This is a nationally recognised award and sets the standard for mountain leaders. This is one way we differ from some of the larger organised guided walking companies, some of which use volunteer walking guides in the UK with no formal qualifications or professional experience, we guarantee we will never do this.

What is an ML?
This is a Mountain Leader qualification. It means the holder is qualified to take any groups of people walking on any mountain in the UK (and takes years to achieve).

I would like to do a guided walk but cannot make your dates, can you still help?
Please do email us, we do our very best to add new trips to our calendar to suit our customers. If we can possible fit your trip in on a date to suit you, we will.

Are you ATOL protected?
Due to a lot of radio and TV adverts which state a holiday is ATOL protected we get a lot of customers asking us if we are. Please be aware that ATOL stands for Air Travel Organisers' Licensing. This licence can only be given to companies which include air travel within their packages. Since we do not provide or arrange any air travel we cannot and do not need to be ATOL protected.
