About Thistle Trekking

Our Mission

To provide all our customers with an amazing, hassle free, trekking adventure.

About Us

Thistle Trekking started from very humble beginnings back in 2011. After being inspired by the combination of the beautiful scenery that the UK has to offer and the interesting people you meet while exploring it, we wanted to introduce more people to the idea of trekking the UK’s long distance trails. So in 2011 we organised our very first guided long distance trek on The West Highland Way and Thistle Trekking’s own journey begun! Since 2011 we have gone a very long way and not just on foot! Each year the company has expanded so that now we offer a large range of open treks so that anyone can join a guided group and enjoy the trails of the UK. We also work with corporate groups to provide team building treks, charities to provide fund raising treks and many private groups to create bespoke treks to suit everyone needs. We haven’t stopped at treks, we also provide navigation courses, scrambling weekends, mountain days and soon walking weekends. Our journey is far from over and we look forward to welcoming new customers each year as well as welcome back our repeat customers year after year.

Meet the Team
All our guides, both the walking guides and support guides are all qualifed British Mountain Leaders and lovely people! Read more about some of our team below:

Chris is also a qualified Sea and White Water Kayak Guide, and enjoys skiing, rock-climbing, and running.

Dan loves the outdoor environment and spends most of his time within it taking part in Kayaking, Sailing, Climbing, Cycling and of course trekking, to name a few.

Jennifer Roberts Jen Roberts

Jen’s earliest memories of the outdoors are from the wide open spaces of the Peak District. She has also spent a considerable amount of time in Oxford where she coached kayaking and canoeing on the beautiful River Thames, but Jen’s desire for dramatic scenery and interesting adventures soon took her to north Wales where she quickly became at home in the mountains of Snowdonia. Following time in the North West Highlands of Scotland and climbing mountains in Chile, Jen continues her love of wild adventures, both in boats and on foot, introducing people to the stunning landscape and wildlife of the UK.

Joe Smith Joe Smith

Tragically he suffered a fatal climbing accident on 16th January 2016 while winter climbing with his good friend, Simon Davidson.

His family are raising funds for the Mountain Rescue Team that Joe was a key member of, the same team who had to deal with this heart-breaking incident when Joe and Simon were discovered in Glencoe. For those able to donate in Joe’s memory you can find the link by clicking here, Joe will never be forgotten as an exceptional guide and as our friend.
